CHILD ONLINE SAFETY

MAKING CHILD ONLINE SAFETY FRONT PAGE NEWS

Many kids now use the internet from a young age, however it is widely unregulated with few protections to keep children safe from online predators.

We worked to raise awareness across Europe on the online dangers for kids, whilst the EU Parliament debated the decision to make it compulsory for tech platforms to detect, report, and remove child sexual abuse material from their platforms.

Over three years, we worked with a coalition of children’ rights organisations to amplify their voices through EU wide and localised campaigns, unified messaging, and a shared visual identity. Our work gained significant attention - with wins including: 500,000 petition signatures, a coalition of 40 of the most influential children’s rights organisations, and our Polish ‘Not My Normal’ campaign (created on a shoestring budget) receiving earned media coverage across 3 of the top TV channels nationwide.

If 6/10 people who used a product experienced sexual abuse on it, it would be illegal. Our Poland campaign included an interactive website where 720 young people shared their experieces, and a fake shopfront stunt that caused a media frenzy.
